Former Olympic Swimmer, Elka Graham will compete in this year’s NSW Corporate Games.
Silver medallist in the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Elka will swim in the 50m and 100m freestyle on Saturday, 15 March, for the Double Drummer team.
Double Drummer is a new online social networking site and has registered to compete in five sports: Tennis, Volleyball, Golf, Triathlon and Swimming.
In addition to Elka, Double Drummer has enlisted the children of former 1970s Davis Cup tennis player, Bob Giltinan. Lara and Robert will play in the singles tennis event.
David Keogh, of Double Drummer, said people who were not part of an organisation wanted to take part in the Games and his company gives them that opportunity.
“Double Drummer is a community, trying to get people together.”
"I love the whole philosophy of the Games,” declares Elka, which she says fits perfectly with the three pillars that make up Double Drummer's values. The first is participation in an active and healthy lifestyle, second is meeting people and having fun and third is helping a good cause, in this case Diabetes Australia-NSW.
Diabetes Australia-NSW has a team competing in the Dragon Boat race sponsored by Toyota.
“Diabetes Australia-NSW would like to thank organisations like Double Drummer and Toyota for showing their support for the NSW Corporate Games in different ways,” says Mandy Smith, Manager, NSW Corporate Games.
Registrations for the NSW Corporate Games have now closed. However, all entrants are required to validate their registrations at a Games SuperCentre, which open on Monday, 10 March. For more information about SuperCentres, visit www.corporategames.net.au.
